Göttingen State and University Library (SUB) and the Library of the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies at FU Berlin will establish a "Specialized Information Service Anglo-American Culture" within the next 3 years (2016-2018).
The service will cover the following subjects:
English Studies / Great Britain and Ireland
Australian and New Zealand Studies
In the project JFKI library will be responsible for the acquisition and supply of US-American and Canadian popular primary sources, i.e. comics, tv series and newspapers.
The service is funded by the German Research Foundation and replaces the former "Sondersammelgebiete" for the Anglo-American region. In the project we will develop infrastructures and services that will improve access to academic literature and information for scholars regardless of their location in Germany. Our goal is to consider the specific characteristics of the disciplines and to meet the needs of the academic community.
Quick acquisition and access to acquisition requests by members of the community.
Acquisition and licensing of specialized primary sources and academic literature.
Acquisition and licensing of North American newspapers, comics and tv series
Digitization on demand
Creation of a repository for long-term archiving of digital publications
Support for Open Access publishing
Coordination of licensing for subject specific databases and other digital resources within the community
Development of strategies for the digital transformation of academic information and communication
