Research in the Digital Library
Choose Suche in QuickSets to search in several databases at the same time. Select the relevant subject before starting a search with one or more keywords.
To find a specific database use Datenbanken. There you also find a complete list of databases in alphabetic order.
For thematic research use Datenbanken and select with Systematik (DDC) a relevant subject of the Dewey Decimal Classification. With Weitere Suchoptionen you may limit the search by keywords and choose among different types of publication.
You will achieve optimal results by searching with word stems (= truncation):
Example: ameri? will find titles containing keywords as Amerika, American, amerikanisch etc.
This is an easy method to create a list of databases relevant to American studies. For further specification use keywords or DDC subjects.
Click on to get more information about the contents of a database.
In several cases you have to click on SFX-Buttons to know whether direct full-text access is possible. If it is not available the request may be forwarded to the online catalog of the Free University or to the Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB).
For further information please ask reference librarian Angelika Krieser or head librarian Julia Mayer in the library administration (glass door opposite the library entrance).
Please pay also attention to the courses for database training offered by the Universitätsbibliothek der Freien Universität, Garystr. 39.
