Jason Mittell

Jason Mittell is Professor of Film & Media Culture and American Studies at Middlebury College. From June to July 2014, he is a visiting fellow with the Research Unit "Popular Seriality—Aesthetics and Practice" of the John F. Kennedy Institute at the Freie Universität Berlin (Germany). He is the author of Genre & Television: From Cop Shows to Cartoons in American Culture (Routledge, 2004), Television & American Culture (Oxford UP, 2009), Complex Television: The Poetics of Contemporary Television Storytelling (NYU Press, forthcoming), and co-editor of How to Watch Television (NYU Press, 2013), as well as numerous essays about media studies. He runs the blog Just TV.
