The Freie Universität Berlin’s John-F.-Kennedy Institute for North American Studies is inviting applications for the position of a research assistant. The contract is limited to a pilot project funded by the Volkswagen Stiftung (with possibility for extension). The start date is subject to negotiation, but may be as early as possible.
This position is ideal for someone who has a long-term interest in economics research and is planning to go to graduate school in economics or a related field. You will work with and be supervised by Professor Julia Püschel on projects of hers and her coauthors. Since many of the projects will involve extensive work with large, proprietary datasets, preference will be given to candidates with prior experience of working with statistical software such as Stata. Background in economics is a plus, but not necessary – we welcome candidates with strong technical backgrounds who are looking for more exposure to economics.
The ideal candidate will:
(i) have a strong quantitative background;
(ii) have strong computer skills including programming (Stata, SAS, R, Python, and/or Matlab are a strong plus);
(iii) be able to work independently to solve problems;
(iv) Graphics presentation skills.
To apply, please submit to Ms. Kerstin Brunke at email@example.com
