A number of papers and themes presented at the previous conferences have been published in Explorations in Culture and International History, a book series published by Berghahn Books since 2003 and edited by Jessica Gienow-Hecht.  The series presents innovative work in the field of international cultural relations and provides new perspectives and methodological approaches to the cultural dimension of international history.

The forthcoming volume, Music and International History in the Twentieth Century, will concentrate on music as a historical phenomenon and its interplay with the state in international relations. The volume’s authors focus particularly on how music helps us explain an international relation and how it highlights the nexus between culture and international history. They also show the political significance of music, musicians, and musical performances in the 20th century.
