Study Abroad

Students at the John F. Kennedy Institute have the opportunity to study in the United States or Canada and at a range of European universities with American Studies programs.

The ERASMUS program offers diverse opportunities for academic exchange within Europe. The John F. Kennedy Institute has long-standing relations with more than 25 European universities that include a range of exchange possibilities for BA, MA, and doctoral students, as well as faculty. Further information can be found under “Cooperation” on the individual department pages.

United States and Canada

There are various ways to organize and finance a stay in the United States or Canada. In addition to the direct exchange programs of the Freie Universität Berlin, the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) and the Fulbright Scholarship Foundation provide funding. Students participating in exchange programs qualify for additional financial aid (Auslandsbafög).
