The Freie Universität maintains exchange agreements with a range of Universities in the United States and Canada (english- and french-speaking). Students from the BA and MA programs, as well as doctoral candidates may apply. Please see the website of the Office of International Student Mobility for information on the participating universities and details on the application procedure.

Please note that a minimum GPA of 2.5 (German grading system) is required. MA students must be prepared to apply shortly after the beginning of their studies; the deadline is usually in early November.

FOX International Fellowship

Doctoral candidates at the Freie Universität may apply for the FOX International Fellowship Program at Yale University.

The ten months-long research stay is open for applicants whose doctoral theses are concerned with one of the following topics: Economics, Political Science, International Relations, and Contemporary History. Successful applicants may not attend courses at Yale University.

The fellowship covers travel costs, accommodation, health insurance, and a portion of the general living costs.
