Student Exchange

Study Abroad (Outgoings)

Students at the John F. Kennedy Institute have the opportunity to study in the United States or Canada and at a range of European universities with American Studies programs.

Erasmus

The ERASMUS program offers diverse opportunities for academic exchange within Europe. The John F. Kennedy Institute has long-standing relations with more than 25 European universities that include a range of exchange possibilities for BA, MA, PhD students, as well as faculty. Further information can be found under “Cooperation” on the individual department pages.

United States and Canada

There are various ways to organize and finance a stay in the United States or Canada. In addition to the direct exchange programs of the Freie Universität Berlin, the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) and the Fulbright Scholarship Foundation provide funding. Students participating in exchange programs qualify for additional financial aid (Auslandsbafög). More information can be found here.

Please contact the International Office at Freie Universität for further information: auslstud@fu-berlin.de

Student Mobility (Incomings)

Students from partner universities interested in studying at the JFKI can spend a semester as an incoming exchange student. More information on learning agreements, ECTS conversion, and transcripts of record can be found on this website. The Eramus+ coordinator is Gabi Bodmeier.
