Yaa Gyasi is the author of Homegoing (2016), her internationally acclaimed debut novel, which traces the legacy of the slave trade as it impacted an Akan family down the generations, from 18th century west Africa to the modern-day US. Her short stories have appeared in African American Review, Callaloo, Guernica, and Granta. As a fiction fellow at the American Academy in Berlin, Yaa Gyasi is currently working on her second novel, in which she explores the psychic cost of immigration on a Ghanaian-American family.
