'Monobachelor' in North America Studies
The Monobachelor was introduced in 2015 and applies to all students who enrolled in the BA program between October 2015 and April 2018. The Monobachelor in North America Studies consists of 150 CP and 30 CP in General Professional Skills (ABV)

Disciplinary Area of Focus 2 - Colloquium Module (8 CP)
The disciplinary orientation and advanced specialization modules each consist of two classes ("Proseminar," "Seminar," or "Vertiefungsseminar"). There are two types of credit for these classes: “active participation,” which remains without a grade, and "Leistungsschein," which is graded based both on active participation and a written exam / term paper / oral exam. To complete the module, one of the classes has to be completed as "active participation," the other as "Leistungsschein."
For the Multidisciplinary Orientation Modules, students will take part in the 'Ring Lecture' which is offered every Winter Semester. Students must complete two Ring Lectures in total.
Supplementary Area of Studies (30 CP)
- Supplemental Area of Studies (Ergänzungsbereich) 30-CP- Module-offering from one of the other Departments or Central Institutes at the Freie Universität Berlin:
- 30-LP-Module-offering from other majors/subjects. Note that this option requires the process of admission to the minor AFTER you have been enrolled in the Monobachelor at the Kennedy institute. Admission requirements and rules and regulations of study (Studienordnungen) from other departments apply.

can consist of EITHER
- two Elective Module (10 CP each) and a third Disciplinary Orientation Module at the JFKI (10 CP)

- one Elective Module (10 CP), a third Disciplinary Orientation Module (10 CP) and an Advanced Disciplinary Specialization Module A or Module B in a third Disciplinary Orientation Module at the JFKI (10 CP)
OR
- a third Disciplinary Orientation Module (10CP), and Advanced Disciplinary Specialization Module A and B in a third Discipline at the JFKI (10CP each)
Bachelor Thesis (12 CP)
- Bachelor Thesis written in Disciplinary Area of Focus 1 (Hauptschwerpunktdisziplin) (12 CP)
