Department of Economics
The teaching and research conducted by members of the Department of Economics are primarily devoted to questions in the fields of labor economics, international economics, political economy, economics of migration, and economic policy. One key area of research involves examining the determinants shaping immigration and trade policies in the United States. Another focus lies in the analysis of the long-term effects of racial and ethnic diversity in childhood on economic behavior and outcomes. The teaching program is offered to students in the North American studies curriculum as well as to students enrolled in the master programs “Economics” and “Public Economics”.
