The so-called midterm elections are coming up, i.e. elections exactly in the middle of the legislative period. The House of Representatives and a third of the Senate will be completely re-elected. In addition, gubernatorial elections will be held in 36 of the 50 states and in three US territories. The main focus, however, is on the House of Representatives: Usually, the party of the ruling president loses seats in the midterm elections - and that's how it looks this time, too. The ruling Democrats could lose their slim majority. And that would make governing even more difficult for President Joe Biden.
